Moschino Red Jacket and Red and White Striped Skirt

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

A fairly routine outfit for day engagements was made more memoriable in May 1991 when Diana paired this Moschino suit with a red and white striped skirt with matching striped shoes for a visit to a detox center in Lambeth. She later wore it in July to day engagements in rainy Blackpool, but with more sedate red and white spectator pumps, and again in October on day engagements in Oxfordshire (also with the striped shoes). She was still wearing it in 1993, at a visit to a hospice in March.

It was use also in her private wardrobe, and was seen at Prince Harry's 7th birthday party in September. (After toting around her niece Princess Beatrice, she lost the jacket to play around on the ground with Harry's Wetherby School classmates - above right) She wore the jacket for the Wales' Christmas card photograph for 1991 (right, near below), and the jacket, at least, was still in use over a year later, when the papparazzi caught her in it leaving her favorite restaurant, San Lorenzo, after a private luncheon in early 1993 (right, far below)

This recreation was made to go with the red and white striped shoes from S 'n E, and I tried to match the stripes as best as possible. (right)The skirt is made from a narrow red and white striped poly/cotton material, fully lined in white polyester. It closes in the back with snaps. The jacket is in red linen, also lined in white polyester, and features faux pockets and gold-tone stud 'buttons' on the front and cuffs. It closes in the front with snaps. Also included is a red pleather clutch handbag. Shown with red and white striped shoes from S'n E, and the earrings from the Light Blue Suit outfit.
