Stripe Maternity Dress

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

<
Another maternity dress that spanned both of Diana's pregnancies. Attributed to the Dutch designer Jan Vanvelden, Diana wore this dress for casual occasions in her first pregnancy - shopping at Harrod's, at polo in May 1982 (right). When she was pregnant with Harry, though, it took on a more public role. In May she wore it under a light coat on a visit, along with Charles, to his newly opened Duchy Workshops on their Highgrove estate (below). In June she wore it to open a Callard & Bowser factory, with a red Vanvelden coat and hat, and in July to Wimbledon (left). Paired again with the Vanvelden coat, she brought Harry home from the hospital in September.

This recreation for the Franklin Mint vinyl People’s Princess Doll is in 100% cotton. It features the white Peter Pan collar and yoke - front and back - of the original, along with a ribbon 'tie'. The cuffs have small white buttons, as does the original, and they and the back close with snaps. It is fully lined in white to prevent staining. Comes with a polyester-covered muslin 'baby belly' that is stuffed with polyfil, and red clutch bag. Shown with the shoes from the Franklin Mint Princess Diana Red Dress with Bow. The hose is from Dollsecrets.
