Horizontal Pleated Cocktail Dress

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

Diana, as patron of the British Youth Opera, attended their opening night of 'La Boheme' at Sadler's Wells theater in September 1991. She wore an off the shoulder pleated cocktail dress by Tomasz Starzewski. The light pink color set off her tan, acquired on a cruise around Italy she, Charles and the boys just returned from. It would be the last holiday they had together as a family.

The horizontally pleated dress was one of Starzewski's signature looks at this time. He made them in all kinds of variants - a long evening dress , a sundress , and a day dress . Sarah, Duchess of York was said to have a black version. Diana reportedly bought this off the peg at a London boutique.

This recreation for the Franklin Mint vinyl People’s Princess Doll is in pink polyester satin with black satin accent stripes. It's fully lined in white and has a back zipper. Includes black satin clutch bag. Shoes were by S'n E.
