Ronit Zilkha Pantsuit

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

After her divorce, Diana's public life became less about state functions and more about her personal life and her work with charities, and her wardrobe similarly changed. There was no longer any need for elaborate gowns for state occasions, but rather a less formal business wardrobe that she could wear for business and private life (or as private as Diana could ever be), such as meetings, traveling or lunching with friends. This Ronit Zilkha pantsuit marks that change - it's a classic working-woman's tailored outfit, worn on her flight to New York in June of 1997 for the Christie's auction where she jettisoned much of her state wardrobe.
(At this time Diana also bought less outfits that were custom designed for her and more from collections available generally, geared towards professional working women. A sign that this suit was not custom made for Diana, but rather from one of Zilkha's general collections, is the slightly wrinkled pants and jacket. Suits specifically made for Diana in the past were interlined heavily to prevent this.)

Headband view below:
This recreation for the Franklin Mint vinyl People’s Princess doll is in a light camel linen, and consists of the suit, black camisole with lace trim, black headband, and briefcase. The pants are open at the bottom to accomodate the stand, so the doll 'sits' better on it and the pants hang properly. The jacket is fully lined in a light beige polyester and features flap faux pockets, matching painted 'buttons'on front and sleeves, and faux buttonholes. The sleeveless camisole is of stretch knit with lace trim at the V neck. The briefcase is of pleather with gold-tone handles. Shown with the earrings from the Light Blue suit. Shoes by S'n E.
