Catherine Walker Pink Suit

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

Here's Diana, wearing a pink wool suit from Catherine Walker at the 1993 Order of the Garter Ceremony (left). Not only was this her first Garter ceremony since her separation from Prince Charles, but only weeks before she had not been asked to attend Royal Ascot, and her outfit seemed to symbolize her new position, neither fully in nor fully out of the royal family. It has a newly short skirt and is in a bold color that stands out, yet still traditional, with gloves and hat by Philip Sommerville. Perhaps for the same reasons it was also the outfit she chose for her first official engagement after the separation from Charles was announced, in December of 1992 for a luncheon speech for one of her charities, Headway National Head Injuries Association.

Another workhorse of her official day wardrobe, she ordered this suit in 1992 and wore it on an official trip to Paris that November. In March 1993 it appeared on a walkabout in Manchester (right, above) and a hospice in Bolton, that November she wore it on a day engagement in a rainy Birmingham, and in February of 1994 she wore it to Great Ormond Street Hospital (right, below).

Hot pink linen/blend suit (jacket, skirt, and hat), fully lined in white polyester with buttons on front and at cuffs. Navy leatherette clutch bag. Shown with the Franklin Mint Jackie Doll's 3-strand necklace. Navy gloves and black hose from Dollsecrets.

Pink suit, as above but this time without the hat, and with a navy silky camisole.
