Paul Costelloe White and Black Suit

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

This suit was a variation of one in Paul Costelloe's Spring 1990 ready-to-wear collection (at about 1:35). Diana changed the skirt, replacing the runway culotte with a plain straight skirt, losing the belt, and had slightly smaller lapels on the jacket.

This suit became another workhorse for Diana in the early 90's. In 1990 she wore it on a day engagement to the Queen Mother Center in London, in June to the Topping Out Ceremony for the Royal Marsden Hospital (of which she was patron)(Left), and in July on a day engagement in Middlesex. A year later, in June of 1991 she brought it out to a day visit to Buckinghamshire, in September to a visit to the Damart HQ , and later than month she wore it leaving London for her solo trip to Pakistan. In June of 1992 it appeared on a visit to the Institute for the Study of Drug Dependence Awards Luncheon (again, she was its patron), and in June of 1993 on a day trip to Cardiff.(Right)

This suit is a repurposing of the Franklin Mint Mother Theresa Suit. The white jacket has lost its modesty paneyl, and had black and white polka dot lapels and pockets added, along with a change of buttons to 'gold' ones on the front and cuffs. The white skirt has also been replaced by a polka dot one, fully lined in white to prevent staining. Shown with the earrings from the Franklin Mint basic "People's Princess" doll, shoes from the Princess of Glamour doll, and handbag from the black gown.
