Nelson Ledges is located about an hour east of Cleveland. For me it's about 35 minutes directly south. It is labeled as being one of, if not, the fastest 2-mile tracks in the country. The photo above was taken at the Northern Ohio Region PCA Club Race September 19th 1999. About 60 racers attended the Club Race. The track is not as smooth as Mid-Ohio but it was recently repaved and is now much better than before. There was a 962 driven by Hap Stiles lapping cars like they were standing still. He would average about 120 mph a lap. The GT cars were pulling about 1 minute 10 second laps over the 2-mile course. Many drivers' ed events are held at Nelson so check your regions itinerary and come down for an afternoon. I will tell you that the course is out in God's country. There isn’t very much around so bring chairs, food, and water, along with your binoculars, camera and sunscreen. There is a small food stand that serves drinks, hot dogs, sausage, chicken etc.

Update on the 2000 Club Race. Event was held September 16th and 17th this year. The weather was great. Took some photos with the 350-mm telephoto lens. Will post a few after I get them developed. No 962 this year which probably made the drivers happy. Last year some of the racers were only getting 11 laps in on the 15 lap race because the 962 was so fast.
