Striped Cardigan

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

Roland Klein cotton sweater with knit-in scarf pattern - Diana bought the sweater and skirt 'off the peg' at his London shop in 1981, and wore it for years. (Right) Here she is wearing the original in 1987.

Upon her entry into the royal family, Diana was amazed (and a bit overwhelmed) at the amount of clothing she was going to need, and fashion designers weren't an area she had much previous experience with. In his book "Princess", Robert Lacey says she actually found Klein by mistake - she had gone to the Emmanuels one day in the summer of 1981 and took a wrong turn into his showroom, which was in the same building, and took the opportunity to buy an outfit while she was there. He ended up dressing Diana for years.

Hand Knit from 100% cotton thread.
