Catherine Walker 'Ascot' Suit

For Ascot in 1991, Diana wore a white Catherine Walker suit with striking black accents - buttons and pocket handkerchief- teamed with a black Philip Sommerville hat. She carried a black and white clutch bag and, unusual for Diana, she also wore gloves (in black). This outfit became another staple of her day wardrobe - minus hat and gloves, she wore it in 1990 on an official tour to Hungary, and in fact chose it for the traditional group tour photograph with their personal staff (below right). Later that year she wore it to Wimbledon, in July of 1991 she wore it to open the Federation Cup Tennis tournament (she was Honorary President), and also that year to a visit to a home for disabled people in Putney. In 1992 it went to Manchester to open an infirmary, and she was still wearing it for day engagements in the summer of 1993..
 | This recreation uses the Franklin Mint White 'Mother Theresa' Suit as its base. I've added a slit breast pocket and handkerchief, replaced the buttons with larger black ones, and also changed the insert to a black and white polka dot one. The hat is the same one from the Chanel Black Suit, and gloves are from Dollsecrets. Shown with the earrings from the Inspecting the Guard outfit, and shoes from the Princess of Glamour doll.
