I used to work at the Kingsville Public Library in Kingsville, Ohio. While on staff there I heard many tales. In fact, I have experienced the following myself. It is written in first person. - Rev. JN .
The Man In The Tall Hat: (Kingsville Public Library)
It was slowly getting dark outside as the rest of the staff left for the evening, leaving me there to do custodial work as the sub-custodian for the month. I eagerly worked at the cleaning to assure that it was done correctly, and quickly, because I didn't want to be alone in that library by myself after the tales that I had heard.
It was getting close to 9:00 PM when I heard a knock on the door out front. I went to open it, but no one was there. I figured that it was just one of the town kids playing around in the parking lot, and decided to hit the door to scare me. So, I went back to work. It was about 10 minutes later that I heard the knocking again, only louder. I went to the door, and as I opened it, a man in a tall black hat and a black coat stood there. I told him that we were closed and he nodded solemnly and began to walk away from the door. I turned around after locking the door to go back and tell him when we opened so he could come back tomorrow. It had not been long enough for anyone to get out of my site, and the man was gone.
I decided not to talk about that experience with anyone, and it was right after that that another staff member brought up seeing a man in a tall black hat who fit the description of my ghostly patron exactly. When she had seen him, he was looking through the old paperback classics. Upon being asked if he needed any help, he shook his head as to say "no." When the staff member turned around to take another look at the strangely dressed man, he was gone. She looked through all of the shelves and he just wasn't there. No one had seen him come in nor seen him leave. It as then that I knew that my ghostly patron had visited before.
---OH MY ..... Truly a tasty tale, Reverend ! Thanks on behalf of all my fellow diggers of darkness!
