Suzie's Page!

Hi all, it's me, Suzie Stevens!
I have played bass guitar, guitar, and keyboard,
along with singing backup vocals in a band called
"The VMG", with (now my husband) Jimmy since 1968.
For awhile, we had three girls and two guys in the band
(we had 'em outnumbered), and we girls sometimes
played as a trio ... "The Xceptions"!
I have been working in local music stores for 25 years now,
and Jim has taught me to help with the guitar repairs too,
so I guess that means girls can not only play, but work on guitars too!

Pick one, Suzie!!

Here I am ...
as a skinny young'un around 1972
or so, playing with the guys at
The Country Inn in Chardon.

Yeah, I know, that old Harmony bass
was almost as big as I was!
But it had a nice neck, and with that
Gibson pickup it sounded as
big as it looked!

Check out The VMG page...

It's so much fun to play in a band!
I always feel accepted and respected as "one of the guys."
It's a fantastic way to gain confidence!
(not to mention getting noticed by guys who came to see the band,
not that I would ever even THINK of that, you understand!) LOL

Don't forget, we want others to send in stories and photos,
anything fun and positive, to encourage girls and anyone else
who wants to play in a band! You CAN do it!
