2019 Diplomatic Reception Gown

The Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace has become a highlight of the royal calender, with Kate attending yearly since 2013. In December 2019, in addition to a bevy of diamonds which included the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara, diamond chandelier earrings and the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, all loaned by the Queen, she was able to display her recently acquired orders - the Queen's Family Order and the Royal Victorian. They were all set off by the simple background of her blue velvet gown.

It is believed the gown is from Alexandeer McQueen, and appears to be a variantion of a McQueen jersey knit gown sold at retail for about $7,200. (right)

This recreation for the Franklin Mint vinyl Kate Middleton doll is in navy blue microsuede, fully lined in white to prevent staining. It features the sweetheart neckline and slightly flared skirt of the original, and closes in the back with snaps. Includes the sash and Maltese cross of Kate's RVO. The tiara is from the Franklin Mint Diana Princess of Wales porcelain doll (the one in the 'Elvis' gown), the Family Order pin is from the Danbury Mint Royal Wardrobe collection, and the earrings are from the Franklin Mint Jackie Doll Black Sheath Gown outfit. The necklace is strung rhinestones, and the badge pin of the RVO is, IIRC, from the Danbury Mint Prince Charles bridegroom doll. Shoes are from the Kate Middleton Engagement doll.
