2022 Commonwealth Service Outfit

For the annual Commonwealth Service in March 2022, Kate chose this blue coat from Catherine Walker. Coming just weeks after the invasion of Ukraine, the blue color - part of the Ukranian flag - was viewed as a possible show of support for the country.

The coat appears to have been custom made for Kate, combining elements of several other coats from the Catherine Walker collection. Worn over either a blue skirt or dress, it's in wool crepe and features velvet lapels and a flared cuff. Kate paired it with a pillbox hat by Sean Barrett.

It got another wearing a year later, with nude shoes and a different hat by Lock & Co., to the Easter service at Windsor Castle. and later, in June. she wore it with yet different accessories (a Philip Treacy hat, the late Queen's pearl and diamond choker, and Princess Diana's Collinwood earrings and Birthright pearl bracelet) to Charles' 'Scottish Coronation' in Edinburgh, (right)reportedly because the blue color matched that of the Saltire, the Scottish national flag.

This recreation for the Franklin Mint vinyl Kate Middleton doll is in a dark (somewhat darker than the photos) shapphire blue crepe with a navy velvet collar. It is fully lined in white to prevent staining, and features the flared cuffs, large black slit and large hip pockets fo the original. Closes at the front and cuffs with snaps under faux buttons. Include matching pillbox hat with self bow at the back, and matching clutch bag. Earrings are from one of the Franklin Mint porcelain Diana dolls (I forget which one) and shoes are the black ones from the Franklin Mint kate Middleton Engagement doll.
