Roksanda Ilincic Yellow Dress

On the Cambridge's tour of New Zealand and Australia in April of 2014, Kate arrived in Sydney wearing this sunshine yellow dress from Roksanda Ilincic. It was a customized variation of one from the Serbian-born designer's spring/summer 2014 line, orginally white with yellow color block accents. Along with slight changes to the neckline and sleeves, Kate wanted the dress to be primarily yellow, in honor of the wattle, a yellow flower which is the emblem of the country. She accessorized it with her Mappin & Web circle necklace, pearl dangle earrings, Cartier watch, and clutch purse.

William must have been struck by the color of the dress, as he reportedly jokingly told his wife she looked like a banana!

Kate wore this dress again to Wimbledon in 2016, her first attendance in her new capacity as patron of the All England Tennis Club. She kept up the Australia connection in June of 2020, wearing it for a video link engagement marking the country's "Thank a First Responder Day.'

Interestingly, when US TV station CBS did a special in 2017 on the life and death of Kate's mother-in-law Princess Diana, host Gayle King wore the same dress.

This recreation for the Franklin Mint vinyl Kate Middleton doll is in yellow linen with white linen color block accents on the hem and sleeves. It has the darted top and skirt of the original, as well as the two part color block section of the skirt (there is a slit between the white and yellow, the photo doesn't show it well). It is fully lined in white polyester and closes in the back with snaps. Includes the necklace, earrings, and clutch bag. Shown with the shoes from the Franklin Mint Blue Suit for their Diana, the People's Princess doll, and the watch from Diana's Casual Khaki outfit.
