Most northern Ohio runners will be glad to see the St. Malachi race date has arrived again. For most of us, St Malachi unofficially kicks in the greater Cleveland running season. With many traditional races being eliminated, it's gratifying to see the St. Malachi race still going strong after 18 seasons.

There is good news/bad news for the Lake Hospital runs this year. In the past, Lake Hospital has hosted a spring race in Willoughby & an autumn race in Painesville. This year both races have been eliminated, and replaced with one summer race in Mentor. The date has been set for August 3, and the distance has been altered from a 10k to a 5 mile format. The certified course, while not "pancake" flat, should be fast. We will post a map of the course here soon.

By the way, one reason cited by race officials for only having one race this year was the demands that 2 races put on volunteers, who for the most part, were Lake Hospital employees & family. It bears repeating here that without volunteers most races would not exist. Please be kind & considerate. If you have problems or complaints, express them privately to the race director(s).

Hope you all are rewarded this year.
